How many rugs can The Rug Tidy hold?
The Rug Tidy has been designed to hold multiple horse rugs on a single unit. The exact number will depend on the weight and thickness of the rugs, but it is ideal for storing your everyday turnout, stable and fleece rugs neatly in one place.
What are the dimensions?
The Rug Tidy measures:
- Width: 50 inch (1270mm)
- Height: 20 inch (508mm)
- Projection from wall: 13 inch (330.2 mm)
Its compact design allows it to fit neatly into most tack rooms, feed rooms and stable areas without taking up valuable space.
How is The Rug Tidy fitted?
The Rug Tidy is designed to be securely mounted to a solid wall. Full instructions are provided in the box and will be posted on the website after we have launched.
Fixing bolts are not supplied as the appropriate fixings will depend on the type of wall you are installing it onto (for example timber, brick or concrete block). We recommend minimum size M8 Rawlbolts (loose bolt version) for affixing to a solid brick wall. You will need 8.
Top Tip: With a normal projecting Rawlbolt, the threaded end of the threaded rod (i.e. the screw) sticks out of the wall after tightening, which means you may have to cut it down if you don't want it to look unsightly. A loose-bolt version has a conventional hex bolt head on the front instead, so when it is tightened you just see the bolt head and washer — much neater and no protruding threaded rod to cut off.

Can I install it myself?
Yes. Most customers will be able to install The Rug Tidy using standard DIY tools however we recommend seeking advice from a competent tradesperson if you're unsure about the suitability of your wall or fixings.
What height of wall do I need?
We have trialled The Rug Tidy on different height walls over a period of two years with 6ft3inch rugs. Out recommended height is 8.5ft, however if your wall is lower than that we recommend you hang the rug from the chest fastenings and the fillet string to keep rugs off the floor. We also supply a drip mat you can place under The Rug Tidy.
Can it be installed outside?
No. The Rug Tidy is designed for use inside stable and yard environments.
Will it fit all horse rugs?
Yes. The Rug Tidy has been designed to accommodate virtually all standard horse rugs, including:
- Turnout rugs
- Stable rugs
- Fleece rugs
- Cooler rugs
- Exercise sheets
If the height of the wall is less than 8.5ft we recommend you hang the rug from the chest fastenings and the fillet string to keep it off the floor.

Yes. Every aspect of The Rug Tidy has been designed, refined and rigorously tested over more than two years in a working yard. It has been developed through everyday use to ensure it performs reliably in real-life yard conditions.
